We are Toby Talbot and Lucinda Sherborne, co-founders of Happenstance.
Toby is one of Australasia’s most recognised and awarded creative leaders. Lucinda is one of New Zealand’s most creatively driven and respected strategic thinkers. Having made big things happen before at Colenso, Saatchi & Saatchi and finally DDB, we are establishing a proven partnership and will remain hands-on with every project.
What makes Happenstance different?
Happenstance is a new kind of creative studio built around a simple belief: most brands leave too much to chance.
Your brand is one moment amongst millions. It’s too easy to cross your fingers and hope you don’t disappear in the noise.
We believe brands have to make their own luck.
This starts with evidence, not instinct. We find the way in and design the idea around how people actually live, so it’s built to spread beyond a paid media plan.
We bring senior strategy, creativity and orchestration together to create the perfect conditions for disproportionate things to happen around brands.
We’re not building another scaled agency model. We’re applying judgement, taste and timing where they can make the greatest difference.
That’s how we make luck happen.
Our model is deliberately open. We can lead, work alongside agencies or marketers or plug into an existing team, bringing the right senior people from different specialisations around the problem if need be.
We’re here to make work that doesn’t just move the needle, but changes the trajectory of your business.
